Adding a legal second suite allowed Fran to generate rental income, making home ownership more affordable. This renovation provided a practical alternative to condo living with the added benefit of investment potential.

- Basement lowering with new concrete flooring
- Updated electrical, plumbing, and structural elements
- High-quality finishes for a modern look
Stunning Basement Transformation in Limoges
Zack wanted to turn his cold, unfinished basement into a bright, inviting space that would complete his home. What started as one large empty area was carefully designed into multiple functional spaces, including:
- A wet bar
- Hobby room
- Flexible living space
- Entertainment area
- Four-piece bathroom
- Bedroom with a walk-in closet
- Reading nook
- Fully contained mechanical room
Open and Inviting Design
Before the renovation, heading downstairs felt like entering a dark storage space. Now, the basement is warm, bright, and welcoming. Rich maple finishes, glossy Calacatta tile, and sleek countertops tie together the wet bar and entertainment area.
A feature gallery wall adds character, and there’s plenty of space for a pool or poker table. To enhance brightness, LED pot lights were installed throughout, complemented by warm-toned luxury vinyl plank flooring.
Private Guest Retreat
Tucked away for privacy, the basement now features a comfortable guest suite with a queen-sized bed, seating area, and a walk-in closet. Next door, the luxurious four-piece bathroom features maple cabinetry, Calacatta counters, and ample storage. A mirrored barn door conceals an extra 43 square feet of storage, adding to the room’s functionality.
A Complete Transformation
This renovation turned an underused basement into a polished, multi-functional living space. From cozy retreats to vibrant entertainment areas, Zack’s home now has a beautiful and functional lower level that enhances comfort and style.

Modern Kitchen Transformation in Kanata
Adam’s kitchen felt small, outdated, and disconnected from the rest of his home. He wanted a space that was not only functional for large gatherings but also seamlessly integrated with the rest of the house.
Expanding and Opening the Space
The original kitchen was confined by multiple walls and a low ceiling, making it feel cramped and isolated. To create an open-concept design, we removed a dividing wall and combined the kitchen with the unused dining area. This nearly doubled the kitchen’s size from 245 sq. ft. to 438 sq. ft., giving Adam a spacious and welcoming area perfect for entertaining.
Enhancing Flow and Connection
To further open up the space, we removed the foyer wall and installed sleek glass railings, creating immediate sightlines to the kitchen. The old curved staircase was squared off for a more modern look, and new flooring was extended up the stairs for a cohesive flow. With vaulted ceilings added, the once enclosed kitchen now feels bright, airy, and fully connected to the living areas.
Stylish and Functional Design
Rich walnut cabinetry was chosen to complement a striking navy blue 3D backsplash, paired with bold black hardware for a modern touch. Custom storage solutions—including spice racks, knife blocks, and pull-outs—make organization effortless. The kitchen is fully equipped with double wall ovens, a built-in wine fridge, and dual sinks. The large island and extended peninsula provide ample workspace and seating, making the kitchen the heart of the home.
A Stunning Transformation
This kitchen renovation turned a closed-off space into a warm and inviting hub perfect for family gatherings and entertaining. Adam’s new kitchen is not only stylish but also highly functional, proving that a thoughtful redesign can completely transform the way a home is enjoyed.

A Thoughtfully Designed Basement Suite for Dan & Carly in Orleans
Life transitions—whether moving, renovating, or creating a new space—require careful planning to ensure both immediate comfort and long-term satisfaction.
Project Background
Dan and Carly were ready for a major change. They wanted to transform the 1,600+ square-foot basement of their home into a modern, executive-style suite designed for daily living and entertaining. Their goal was to create a bright, functional space where they could cook, relax, enjoy music and movies, and comfortably host guests.
The Renovation Process
To bring in more natural light, we installed a new Marvin double casement window in the bedroom, which required cutting through the foundation. Combined with light colour choices throughout, this update made the space feel open and airy.
One of the biggest challenges was removing the existing tile flooring, which was firmly adhered to the concrete slab. Using our full range of demolition tools, we prepped the surface for polishing and ground away to find the gorgeous concrete already in place, which beautifully complemented the marble-look tile in the bathroom. The bathroom itself was a focal point of the renovation, featuring an upscale vanity and a spacious walk-in tiled shower.
A Stunning New Living Space
The final result is a crisp, bright, and highly functional basement suite that allows Dan and Carly to live comfortably while maintaining their independence.
“We LOVE the bathroom—the smart layout, the awesome tiled shower with stone floor, the vanity space, and the beautiful flooring,” they shared.
This project transformed an underutilized basement into a warm and inviting executive suite—so much so that you’d never guess it was a basement at all!

A Thoughtfully Planned Kitchen Remodel for Roger Scott in Barrhaven
Sometimes, small updates can transform a kitchen, but in this case, Roger’s well-used kitchen was ready for a complete overhaul. He was eager to renovate, and we were excited to help design a space that would be functional and stylish.
Smart Planning for a Strong Return on Investment
Full kitchen remodels can be expensive, so we focused on balancing budget and impact. Rather than replacing everything, we strategically updated key elements to maximize value. The original plan included new flooring, but after reviewing costs, Roger decided to keep his existing neutral-toned floors and shift the focus to cabinetry and finishes. This choice kept costs manageable while still delivering a major transformation.
Since this was a modest family home, high-end custom cabinetry wasn’t necessary. Instead, we opted for IKEA cabinets—an affordable and practical choice for this type of home. In larger or executive-style homes, buyers often expect custom kitchens, but in this case, IKEA was a smart fit.
The Design Plan
One of the biggest challenges was the outdated cabinetry. The doors no longer closed properly, and multiple layers of paint had taken their toll. Instead of just making cosmetic changes, we reworked the layout to improve flow and functionality.
To keep the space feeling bright and open, we selected white cabinetry, which blended seamlessly with the existing tile floors, making the narrow kitchen feel wider. A contrasting countertop helped draw attention upward, while a stylish backsplash and new lighting added visual interest without breaking the budget.
Managing the Unexpected
Planning ahead is key to a smooth renovation, but sometimes surprises happen. In this case, Roger got a little ahead of schedule—he unexpectedly tore out his kitchen before finalizing the design! This led to a rush to order cabinets, only to find that half were out of stock. While this caused some delays, we worked through the challenge and found alternative solutions.
Another issue surfaced when we discovered that the previous tile floor had been installed around the old cabinets rather than underneath them. This left a gap in the flooring once the cabinets were removed, requiring creative problem-solving to ensure a seamless fit for the new layout.
The Final Transformation
Despite a few obstacles, the finished kitchen was a major success. The clean, modern design helped the home sell well over asking price. Thoughtful staging—adding new lighting, accessories, and artwork—further enhanced the space, making it feel warm and inviting.
This project proved that careful planning, smart budgeting, and the right team can turn any outdated kitchen into a stunning and functional space. Whether you’re renovating for yourself or preparing to sell, a well-designed kitchen remodel can make all the difference.
